Priscilla Rose Huson (Peggy) was born in Naylor, Missouri to Carl and Josie Huson on April 5, 1924. She had two older brothers, Fred and Frank, and one younger, Tom. The family owned a dairy farm during the depression, and later Peggy helped her grandparents around the hotel they operated in Doniphan, Missouri. During WWII she worked in an airplane assembly plant, Curtis Wright, in St. Louis. It was there that she met Thad B. Hickman III, and they married on August 2, 1943 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, where Thad was stationed with the military. Between the years of 1944 and 1954 the couple had 5 sons: Thad, Tom, Terry, Tim and Ty. While raising their family Thad and Peggy lived in Missouri, California, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, Idaho and Oregon.
In their mid-twenties Thad and Peggy committed their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. They were both active in Bible Study Fellowship and served in their local churches. Peggy had many interests, including golf, bridge, fishing, quilting, singing and flying. She earned her private pilot’s license, including an instrument rating, at age 50. While she cherished her role as a homemaker, she pitched in with her husband’s business interests, sold real estate in Austin, Texas, and operated a fishing resort in Minnesota.
Peggy died in Bend, Oregon on September 26, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her husband, and her eldest son. Survivors include sons Tom (Sharlene) of Woodland, California, Terry (Nancy) of Bend, Oregon, Tim of Knoxville, Tennessee, Ty (Jeanne) of Sevierville, Tennessee, 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
